Sharaka Holdings Building

Doha, Qatar - 2013 - In Design

With its postmodern meets classical style, this mixed-use development in Doha comprises residential, retail and F&B elements. The U-shape was chosen as the most appropriate solution for the site, given the need for views across the main street. The client also required efficient layouts and a variety of different apartment types. Materials include stone cladding and louvers, and the design language takes cues from the surrounding buildings. With a balanced composition of solid and transparent elements, elevations feature large openings to allow plentiful natural light into the apartments.

The ground and first floor units contain shops while the second level features a food court and an open terrace. The complex contains three different areas for vertical circulation – one for the retail section and two for the apartments – with separate entrances for the different functions.
